The Huawei SUN2000-115KTL-M2 is the larger sibling in the M2 family, lifting per-unit output to 115 kW inside the same enclosure and at the same weight as the 100 kW model. Our engineering team reaches for it when a factory or resort roof is genuinely large: a higher per-unit rating means fewer inverters, fewer AC connection points and noticeably less cabling for the same total system size. What is the SUN2000-115KTL-M2, and when should it replace the 100 kW model?

The SUN2000-115KTL-M2 is a commercial and industrial three-phase on-grid inverter delivering 115,000 W of nominal AC active power, with a ceiling of 125,000 VA or 125,000 W at unity power factor. Its datasheet lists supported grid voltages as 400 V and 480 V only, wired 3W+(N)+PE at 50 Hz or 60 Hz — unlike the 100KTL-M2, which also lists 380 V. That single line decides model choice on some buildings, so the incoming supply voltage should be confirmed before anything is ordered. The DC architecture is identical to the smaller model: ten MPP trackers, two strings each for twenty total, a 200 V to 1,000 V operating window, 1,100 V maximum input, and 30 A per MPPT with 20 A per input. In practice you get more AC output across the same number of strings, which suits large, mostly single-orientation roofs where the array can be packed densely. Efficiency matches the 100 kW unit at 98.6% peak at 400 V and 98.8% at 480 V, and the datasheet adds power-quality figures that grid operators and consulting engineers usually ask for: power factor adjustable from 0.8 leading to 0.8 lagging, and total harmonic distortion below 3%. Two caveats: no maximum PV input power is published, so the DC/AC ratio must be derived from the per-MPPT limits and confirmed with the manufacturer; and the protection table for this model does not list Arc Fault Protection, which the 100KTL-M2 table does. See how we scope, install and commission systems under services, or ask about grid approval on PEA permits.

Highlights from the datasheet

  • 115 kW in the same enclosure: 1,035 x 700 x 365 mm and ≤93 kg, identical to the 100 kW model, so the extra output costs nothing in wall space or supporting structure.
  • Fewer units, fewer connection points: a higher per-unit rating means a given plant size needs fewer inverters, which flows straight through to fewer breakers, smaller AC switchgear and less cable tray.
  • Still ten MPPTs and twenty strings: unusual at this power class, and it keeps the ability to isolate up to ten roof orientations or shading zones on a single machine.
  • Published power-quality figures: power factor adjustable from 0.8 leading to 0.8 lagging and total harmonic distortion below 3% — useful documentation when submitting a grid-connection application.
  • Night-time consumption below 3.5 W: a small number that matters on multi-unit plants, since it is drawn back from the grid every night for the life of the system.
  • IP66 with Smart Air Cooling: rated -25°C to +60°C and installable up to 4,000 m, designed for genuinely outdoor mounting.
  • What the AC design must accommodate: 166.0 A nominal rising to 182.3 A maximum at 400 V. Conductors and protective devices are sized on the maximum figure, never the nominal one.

Why this model suits Phuket

  • Large industrial roofs across Phuket and Phang Nga: where roof area supports it, a 115 kW unit reduces the inverter count on a plant, which means fewer devices to service over the system's life.
  • Heavy rain and high humidity: IP66 protection and a -25°C to +60°C operating range are the minimum specification we accept for equipment mounted outdoors in this climate.
  • Tourism-sector daytime load is high: cold rooms, central kitchens and large air-conditioning plants in resorts run hardest exactly when irradiance peaks, so nearly all generated energy is consumed on site.
  • PEA grid connection required: Phuket falls under the Provincial Electricity Authority, and a plant this size needs a formal connection approval, which we prepare and submit on the client's behalf.

Who it suits

  • Manufacturing plants and warehouses: broad, mostly single-orientation roofs where maximising output per unit reduces switchgear count and installation labour.
  • Large resorts and hotels: multi-building sites with sustained daytime demand where the plant runs into several hundred kilowatts.
  • Contractors and developers managing electrical budgets: a lower inverter count translates directly into AC-side cost and programme time.
  • Projects planning a dense array per inverter: provided the DC/AC ratio is calculated from the per-MPPT limits and confirmed with the manufacturer, since no maximum PV input power is published.
  • Not suitable for: buildings on a 380 V supply, since this datasheet lists only 400 V and 480 V, and projects whose specification mandates Arc Fault Protection.

Summary

The Huawei SUN2000-115KTL-M2 makes sense where the roof is large enough to justify 115 kW per unit, while retaining the ten MPPTs, twenty strings and 98.8% peak efficiency of its 100 kW sibling. Two checks decide it: the building supply must be 400 V or 480 V as listed on the datasheet, and the specification must not require Arc Fault Protection, which this model's protection table does not list. Maximum PV input power and the warranty terms for the M2 suffix both need confirmation from the distributor before ordering. Frequently asked questions

What are the specifications of the Huawei SUN2000-115KTL-M2?

It is a three-phase on-grid inverter rated at 115,000 W nominal AC active power, with a maximum of 125,000 VA or 125,000 W at unity power factor. The datasheet lists 400 V and 480 V grid connections wired 3W+(N)+PE at 50 Hz or 60 Hz. Nominal output current is 166.0 A at 400 V and 138.4 A at 480 V, with maximums of 182.3 A and 151.9 A respectively. The DC side carries 10 MPP trackers taking two strings each, twenty in total, across a 200 V to 1,000 V window with 1,100 V maximum input. Peak efficiency is 98.6% at 400 V and 98.8% at 480 V, THD is below 3%, night-time consumption below 3.5 W, protection is IP66, and the unit measures 1,035 x 700 x 365 mm at no more than 93 kg.

SUN2000-115KTL-M2 or SUN2000-100KTL-M2 — which should I choose?

The DC architecture is identical: ten MPPTs, twenty strings, a 200 V to 1,000 V window, 30 A per MPPT, and the same 98.6% at 400 V / 98.8% at 480 V peak efficiency in an identically sized enclosure. Three differences matter. Output: 115,000 W with a 125,000 VA ceiling versus 100,000 W with 110,000 VA. Grid voltage: the 115 lists 400 V and 480 V only, while the 100 also lists 380 V. Protection: the 100 model's table includes Arc Fault Protection, the 115 table does not. So if the roof is large and the supply is 400 V, the 115 reduces unit count; if AFCI is mandated or the supply is 380 V, take the 100.

How many strings can the SUN2000-115KTL-M2 accept?

Twenty strings maximum, from ten MPP trackers accepting two inputs each. Current limits are 30 A per MPPT and 20 A per input, with 40 A short-circuit tolerance per MPPT. String open-circuit voltage at the coldest expected cell temperature must remain under 1,100 V, and operating voltage should sit within the 200 V to 1,000 V window. On total array size, Huawei's datasheet does not publish a maximum PV input power figure, so we will not state one as fact. We size the DC/AC ratio from the per-MPPT current and voltage limits and confirm the permitted oversizing with the manufacturer or distributor before the design is finalised.

What warranty applies, and is this model sold in Thailand?

The datasheet does not state a warranty period. The publicly available APAC Warranty and Service Conditions document, dated 2021, gives five years for commercial three-phase inverters but does not cover the M2 suffix directly, so we do not present that figure as fact for this model. Ask your distributor for the current warranty document applicable in Thailand. On availability: Huawei's Thai-language site currently lists only the SUN2000-50KTL-M3 in its C&I product group, without the 100 or 115KTL-M2, so official market status and stock should be confirmed with an authorised distributor rather than inferred from online retail listings.

What system size makes the SUN2000-115KTL-M2 worthwhile?

The test is whether the roof can feed 115 kW per unit properly. Once the total plant runs into the hundreds of kilowatts, a higher per-unit rating cuts the number of inverters, enclosures and breakers, and reduces the number of devices that need periodic service. Below that, or on a roof broken into many small planes, several smaller units are more flexible and reduce the production lost when one machine is offline. Two things must be verified either way: the building supply must be 400 V or 480 V as the datasheet lists, and main cabling and transformer capacity must handle up to 182.3 A per unit at 400 V.
