JA Solar is a Chinese module manufacturer founded in 2005, and in 2025 it ranked joint third worldwide for module shipments according to InfoLink's Global Module Shipment Ranking. The range our engineers and installers specify is the DeepBlue 4.0 Pro series, built entirely on n-type TOPCon cells, from 430–455W black modules for villa roofs up to 715–740W modules for large commercial arrays. This page sets out what the official datasheets actually say, the good and the awkward, so you can compare properly before committing to a design and installation. If you are still sizing the system, our bill calculator is a sensible first step.

Who is JA Solar?

JA Solar Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in 2005 and is headquartered in the Fengtai district of Beijing, China. In 2025 it placed joint third with Trina Solar for global module shipments, in the 60–70 GW range out of an industry total of 536 GW, per InfoLink Consulting, while the manufacturer's own site cites more than 280 GW shipped cumulatively. Scale matters on real projects for unglamorous reasons: stock is easier to source, certification paperwork is complete, and a manufacturer of that size is more likely to still exist when a warranty claim is raised fifteen years from now. The core technology is an n-type TOPCon cell JA Solar calls n-Bycium+, an MBB half-cell design with a stated maximum cell conversion efficiency of 26%, used across every size in the series. Why we use JA Solar in Phuket

Phuket roofs run hot almost all year, and every panel loses output as it heats up, so the number worth arguing about is the temperature coefficient. Across the whole DeepBlue 4.0 Pro series that figure is −0.290 %/°C for Pmax, meaning less power lost during the hottest part of a Phuket afternoon than older p-type modules typically give up. Degradation is also low, capped at 1% in year one and 0.4% per year thereafter under a 30-year linear output warranty, which is a realistic planning horizon for a villa owner or a resort's engineering manager modelling payback. On coastal sites we are deliberately careful: the published datasheets do not state any salt-mist corrosion certification, so we make no claim about it, and instead request written confirmation from the distributor while designing the mounting, cabling and DC enclosures around the exposure of that particular site. Monsoon-season outages are a separate question about storage rather than panels, and worth reading up on before you decide, in our notes on going hybrid with battery backup.

Summary

JA Solar suits projects that want n-type TOPCon modules from a large, well-documented manufacturer: 430–455W all-black panels for houses and pool villas, 570–595W for villas, hotels and commercial buildings, and 715–740W where you want fewer rows and less mounting steel on a factory or ground-mount array. Two things to check before signing: the project-grade models carry a 12-year product warranty rather than 25, and the double-glass modules weigh 31.8–38.2 kg, which your roof structure has to actually take. Our team surveys the site, engineers the system and handles the PEA permit paperwork for grid connection. For a specification and quotation matched to your own roof, contact the team.

Frequently asked questions

Are JA Solar panels any good?

On published specifications they sit in the front rank. JA Solar uses n-type TOPCon cells, an MBB half-cell design branded n-Bycium+, with a stated maximum cell efficiency of 26% and module efficiency reaching 23.8% on the 740W model. The temperature coefficient of −0.290 %/°C matters more than most buyers realise in a tropical climate, because it governs how much output survives a hot afternoon. Degradation is capped at 1% in year one and 0.4% annually thereafter under a 30-year linear warranty, and the construction is double-glass and bifacial, rated to 5400 Pa front and 2400 Pa rear static load. The trade-offs are a 12-year product warranty on the project models and a heavier panel that your roof structure needs to accommodate.

How long is the JA Solar warranty?

There are always two warranties and they are not the same length. Per the DeepBlue 4.0 Pro datasheets, the JAM72D40 GB (570–595W) and JAM66D46 LB (715–740W) carry a 12-year product warranty covering the panel itself, while the residential JAM54D41 LB in its 25-year edition states a 25-year product warranty. All models carry a 30-year linear power output warranty, with degradation limited to 1% in the first year and 0.4% per year after that. If a long product warranty matters to you, specify the model that states 25 years rather than assuming the whole series matches. We also recommend reading the Thailand-applicable warranty document from the distributor before you sign anything.

Does JA Solar have a service centre in Thailand?

We cannot confirm that, and we would rather say so than guess. The manufacturer's official pages do not list an office or service centre in Thailand, and what turns up online is mostly self-declared resellers and shops, which we do not treat as a reliable source. If after-sales support is a decision factor for your project, we will approach the distributor for written confirmation of their status and the claim route inside Thailand, and attach that to the quotation. Meanwhile, everything on your side of the meter, design, installation, commissioning, monitoring and coordinating any claim, is handled by Pearl Solar Energy locally in Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi.

How does JA Solar compare with other panel brands?

Most large Chinese manufacturers have converged on n-type TOPCon, so the brand name tells you less than the numbers do. Compare the temperature coefficient, which is −0.290 %/°C on this series, the annual degradation rate of 0.4%, the product warranty term separately from the output warranty term, the module dimensions and weight against your roof structure, and how easily stock and documentation can be obtained when something goes wrong. Where JA Solar has a clear advantage is scale: joint third worldwide for 2025 module shipments per InfoLink, which makes sourcing, certification paperwork and claim handling more straightforward than with a small brand. Ask any installer to put those figures side by side in writing rather than comparing on reputation alone.

Which JA Solar model suits a villa, and which suits a hotel or factory?

For houses and pool villas where appearance matters, we design around the JAM54D41 LB all-black module at 430–455W, 1762×1134 mm and 22 kg, which is easy to lift and works well on constrained or multi-orientation roofs, and it is the model with a 25-year product warranty datasheet. For larger villas, hotels and commercial buildings, the JAM72D40 GB at 570–595W, 2278×1134 mm and 31.8 kg, uses the most common frame size in the Thai market, so rails and clamps are easy to source. For factories, warehouses and ground-mounted arrays where you want fewer strings and less structure per kW, the JAM66D46 LB at 715–740W works, but at 2384×1303 mm and 38.2 kg it is not a residential roof panel.

How much do JA Solar panels cost in Phuket, and is DeepBlue 5.0 available?

We do not publish prices, because module pricing moves with each import batch, exchange rates and order volume, and the panel is only part of the cost anyway. The inverter, mounting system, cable runs, distance to site and the condition of your roof usually swing the total more than the module choice does. The honest route is a site survey followed by a full written quotation. As for DeepBlue 5.0, the manufacturer has announced the series, but at the time we checked there was still no datasheet published on the official European site, so we will not quote power figures or specifications for it. If you specifically want that series, we will obtain written confirmation from the distributor first.
