The TSM-NEG21C.20 is the largest module in Trina Solar's Vertex N family: 740 W at STC, 23.8% module efficiency, built on N-type i-TOPCon Ultra cells in a bifacial dual-glass laminate. Rather than reprinting the datasheet, this page explains what each number actually changes when a system is designed for a Phuket roof or a ground-mount site. Pearl Solar Energy's engineers and installers specify panels of this class mainly for factory roofs and ground-mounted arrays — see what that scope covers under services, browse the rest of the hardware under equipment, or size a system roughly with the calculator before you talk to us.
What is the TSM-NEG21C.20, and how does it differ from the 650W and 470W Trina modules?
This is a 132 half-cut-cell bifacial dual-glass module engineered to maximise watts per panel rather than ease of handling, and two numbers tell you that immediately: it measures 2384 × 1303 × 33 mm and weighs 38.3 kg. That is longer and heavier than anything you would normally want lifted onto a villa roof. The second pair of numbers that drives the design is current — 18.66 A short-circuit and 17.58 A at maximum power — which is well above what a residential-class module delivers, so DC cabling, protection devices and the inverter's MPPT channels all have to be rated for it rather than copied from a house-sized job. Within the same family, the 650W Vertex N is narrower and lighter and therefore sits more comfortably on standard metal-sheet roof rails, while the Vertex S+ 470W is the module actually designed for homes and villas. If you are still deciding between a straight grid-tied array and one with storage, the trade-offs are laid out under hybrid with battery backup. One procurement note matters here: Trina has published this model code across several datasheet versions with different power bands, and the figures on this page follow the 2025 APAC edition covering 715–740 W — confirm with your importer which version is physically in stock, because different Voc and Isc values change the string design.
Highlights from the datasheet
- 740 W per panel with a 0 ~ +5 W tolerance: the negative side of the tolerance is zero, so a sorted panel will not fall below its label rating and may deliver up to 5 W more. Ask for the flash-test report for the specific batch on delivery.
- 23.8% module efficiency (range 23.0–23.8%): more output from the same footprint. This matters when your constraint is available area rather than budget — a common situation on plant roofs with rooftop plant and walkways to work around.
- Pmax temperature coefficient of −0.29 %/°C: output falls at this rate for every degree the cells run above the standard reference temperature. In a tropical climate this coefficient decides real annual yield far more than the headline wattage does.
- Bifaciality of 80 ± 5%: the rear face collects reflected light at this proportion of the front. How much you actually harvest depends on the surface underneath and the mounting height, so bright concrete or a light-coloured roof pays off far more than a flush-mounted array.
- High current — Isc 18.66 A, Imp 17.58 A, max series fuse 35 A: DC cable sizing, protection and MPPT channel ratings must all be chosen for this. Reusing residential specifications here produces a system that runs hot and ages badly.
- Dual glass 2.0 + 2.0 mm with a 33 mm anodised aluminium frame: IP68 junction box, TS4 / TS4 Plus connectors, 4.0 mm² cable, and 1500 V DC maximum system voltage to both IEC and UL.
- 30-year power warranty: first-year degradation capped at 1%, then no more than 0.4% per year, with no less than 87.4% remaining in year 30. The product warranty, however, is 12 years — shorter than several competing brands, so read the terms before committing.

Note: every figure above comes straight from the Trina Solar Co., Ltd. (จดทะเบียนในตลาดหลักทรัพย์ STAR Market รหัสหุ้น 688599) datasheet. Actual system design (strings per MPPT, cable sizing, breakers) must be calculated for each site.
Why this model suits Phuket
- Heat is the default condition: panels here almost never operate at the standard reference temperature, so the −0.29 %/°C coefficient and the 43°C (±2°C) NOCT figure govern real production far more than the 740 W label does.
- No cold mornings, but very hot afternoons: a Voc coefficient of −0.24 %/°C means the 50.30 V open-circuit voltage will not spike beyond inverter limits the way it does in cold climates — it drops as the array heats up. String sizing here has to respect the bottom of the MPPT window, not just the top.
- Salt air, dust and monsoon rain: the datasheet records testing against salt mist, ammonia, sand and dust, and PID, all of which are directly relevant to coastal and island installations.
- PEA grid connection: Phuket is served by the Provincial Electricity Authority, and we prepare and file the paperwork for clients. Equipment listing status must be confirmed with the importer and PEA before each submission — the process is outlined under PEA permits.
Who it suits
- Ground-mounted and solar farm projects: 740 W per module plus 80 ± 5% bifaciality cuts the number of rows, cable runs and structural components needed per unit of installed capacity.
- Factories and warehouses with large uninterrupted roofs: where area is plentiful but labour and balance-of-system cost per watt is the real constraint, high-power modules pay for themselves.
- Commercial owners modelling long-term cost per unit: a 30-year power warranty with 0.4% annual degradation after year one gives you defensible inputs for a financial model rather than marketing language.
- Sites with reflective ground beneath the array: concrete aprons, pale roof membranes or elevated structures let the rear face contribute meaningfully, unlike a flush roof mount.
- Not suited to — houses and pool villas: at 2384 mm long and 38.3 kg, this module is awkward to lift and demanding on roof structure. Choose the Vertex S+ 470W for residential work instead.
Summary
The TSM-NEG21C.20 is a module for projects judged on output per structure and long-term cost per unit, not for villa roofs. Its strengths are 740 W per panel, 23.8% efficiency, a −0.29 %/°C temperature coefficient and a 30-year power warranty; its trade-offs are the 2384 × 1303 mm footprint, the 38.3 kg weight and a product warranty of only 12 years. Pearl Solar Energy's engineers and installers are ready to install it, and will size strings and select an inverter around this module's 50.30 V Voc and 18.66 A Isc rather than around a generic template.
