The GoodWe GW10K-ET from the ET PLUS+ series is a 10,000 W three-phase hybrid inverter with battery management built into the same enclosure, so the house keeps running when the PEA grid drops out. It is one of the units our engineering team specifies when designing systems for larger Phuket homes and pool villas on a three-phase supply. This page walks through what each datasheet number actually means once the system is on your roof, rather than reprinting the table. If you are still weighing grid-tied against battery backup, start with hybrid with battery backup, then look at the rest of our equipment.
What makes the GW10K-ET different from a standard grid-tied inverter?
A conventional grid-tied inverter is required by safety rules to shut itself down the moment the utility supply fails, which is why a solar house can sit in darkness at midday during an outage. The GW10K-ET instead switches over and keeps supplying 10,000 VA from the battery and the array. On the solar side it accepts up to 15,000 W through two MPPT trackers, operating between 200 and 850 V and waking up from 180 V. On the storage side it uses a high-voltage battery bank of 180 – 600 V, nominally 500 V, with one bank supported, charging and discharging at up to 25 A or 10,000 W. That discharge figure matches the inverter's own rating, meaning a charged battery can carry the full rated load rather than being the bottleneck. The important caveat is that the battery must come from GoodWe's approved battery list; the common 48 V lithium packs sold locally are not compatible, and using an unapproved bank voids the warranty. We therefore lock the battery choice and the inverter choice together at the design stage.
Highlights from the datasheet
- 10,000 VA backup with a 16,500 VA peak: the number most buyers overlook is the 16,500 VA peak held for 60 seconds. That window is exactly when an air-conditioning compressor or pool pump draws its inrush current, so judging the unit on its 10,000 VA continuous figure alone understates what it can actually start.
- 15,000 W of panels on a 10,000 W inverter: the manufacturer allows roughly 1.5 times oversizing. Under Phuket's frequent cloud cover that matters more than in a clear-sky climate, because the extra array pushes output closer to full rating during hazy hours instead of only at solar noon.
- 180 – 600 V high-voltage battery at 25 A: for a given power level, higher voltage means lower current, so DC cabling is thinner and resistive losses are smaller. The trade-off is that battery selection is restricted to GoodWe's approved list.
- IP66 rather than the usual IP65: the second digit of an IP code covers water, and 6 means resistance to powerful jets, not just driven rain. In practice that widens where the unit can be mounted on a villa wall with limited eave overhang.
- Fan-free operation: natural convection cooling means no rotating parts to wear out or clog with dust and salt. It also means no audible fan, so the unit can sit near living space or in a plant room without complaints from guests.
- 98.20% peak and 97.50% European efficiency: the European figure is weighted for real part-load operation across a day, so it predicts annual yield better than the headline number. The battery-to-AC path reaches up to 97.50%.
- The limitation worth knowing up front: the standard unit takes 12.5 A per MPPT with a single string per tracker and a 15.2 A short-circuit rating. High-current modern panels, or a roof needing more than two orientations, force a recalculation or a different model — something we check during design, not on installation day.

Why this model suits Phuket
- Monsoon rain and salt-laden air: Phuket runs a long wet season with high humidity year-round. IP66 sealing combined with the absence of fan vents keeps moisture and airborne dust out, which matters more here than in a dry climate, especially on coastal plots.
- Storm-season outages: villas with pool pumps, refrigeration and CCTV cannot simply stop when the grid drops. Supplying 10,000 VA without the grid keeps the essential circuits alive while PEA restores supply.
- Three-phase supply is normal for larger villas: the 400 / 380 V 3L/N/PE output matches the three-phase meters already fitted to most large Phuket houses and rental villas, so no rewiring of the incoming supply is needed.
- PEA paperwork handled for you: Phuket is served by PEA, not MEA. We prepare and file the PEA permits for grid connection, and we verify the chosen model's registration status with PEA before submitting.
Who it suits
- Pool villa owners: properties with pool pumps, water pumps and several air-conditioning units that want daytime bill reduction plus genuine backup during monsoon outages
- Large three-phase houses: homes with a substantial monthly electricity bill and enough roof area to approach the 15,000 W PV input the unit accepts
- Rental villas and small boutique properties: businesses where a power cut turns directly into a guest complaint or a poor review
- Owners planning to add batteries later: installing the hybrid inverter now allows storage to be added afterwards without replacing the core equipment
- Anyone with noise or space constraints: at 24 kg and 415 x 516 x 180 mm, wall mounted and fan-free, it can be installed close to occupied areas
Summary
The GW10K-ET is a well-balanced three-phase hybrid for larger Phuket homes: 10,000 W of output, up to 15,000 W of panels, 10,000 VA of backup with a 16,500 VA peak, and IP66 fan-free construction. The constraints to design around are the two MPPTs at 12.5 A each and the requirement to use an approved high-voltage battery — both decisions that belong in the design phase, not on site.
