Pylontech is a Shanghai-based lithium battery manufacturer founded in 2009, and it is usually the first name that comes up when a villa owner asks how to keep the pool pump, the aircon and the guest Wi-Fi running through an evening peak or a monsoon outage. Who is Pylontech?
Pylontech is the trading name of Pylon Technologies Co., Ltd., a lithium battery and energy storage manufacturer headquartered in the Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, Pudong, Shanghai, founded in 2009. The company has been listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange STAR Market since 2020 under code 688063. In terms of standing, S&P Global Commodity Insights ranked it the world's number one residential energy storage system supplier for 2022 (announced 17 April 2023), and BloombergNEF classified it as a Tier 1 energy storage manufacturer in October 2024. What matters most day to day for an installer is that Pylontech publishes an official compatibility list naming the inverter brands, models, communication protocols (CAN or RS485) and firmware versions it has actually tested, so we can tell you whether your inverter is supported instead of guessing. On distribution in Thailand we are deliberately careful: the manufacturer's company profile lists subsidiaries in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and the United States, with no mention of Thailand, so we make no claim about a local service centre.

Why we use Pylontech in Phuket
Phuket is an island, and salt-laden air combined with year-round humidity ages electrical equipment faster than an inland site would. That matters most for the US5000, which uses an IP20 enclosure rated for indoor installation only, and whose warranty excludes outdoor installation or operation outside the temperature range stated in the manual. Where the battery sits, how the room is ventilated and how far it is from sea spray are therefore design decisions we make at the start, not problems to solve after commissioning. Where no suitable indoor room exists, the Pelio-L-5.12 (IP65) and Force H2 (IP55) allow more freedom of placement, though both still have to be installed exactly as the manual specifies to achieve their rated protection. Heat is the quieter factor: cycle-life figures in the manuals are quoted at 25°C, so a hot, unventilated plant room costs you battery life you already paid for. For pool villas and small resorts along the Andaman coast the real driver is backup, and a hybrid system with battery storage keeps pool pumps, refrigeration and guest Wi-Fi alive when the PEA supply drops during monsoon season, which is usually what moves storage from optional to essential when we discuss solar cost in Phuket with owners.
